  1. Is it safe for me to delete DATA D: drive?

I'm using a laptop which I've had for a while now. It has two volumes, OS C: and DATA D:, which I don't think have been changed since it was set up. All my data, aside from a few files, is stored on the C: drive, and I'd like to be able to combine the almost 560GB on the D: drive onto this, just to give me access to that storage in a simpler way I don't think I really have any need for multiple volumes to separate things out, as everything is pretty well sorted on the C: drive.

However, while looking up whether it was safe to delete the D: drive and extend the other, I found some people discussing recovery data https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-drive-d/07b27cb9-be75-4d27-a2a7-bd6c70e80dc2 which made me concerned about deleting it. I looked at the drive to see if I also had this data available there, to try and back it up, but I discovered in Disk Management that I have a separate partition called 'Recovery Partition', which is between the two volumes.

Is my 'recovery data' stored in this partition? If I copied the data from the D: drive onto the C: drive, and combined them, would I still have the recovery data available if I needed it?

    Many thanks :

    :)

PC reset deletes data in D-drive partition

My PC comes with Windows 10 installed in the C-drive with another partition D-drive for data storage. I did a backup to D-drive before doing a "Remove Everything" PC reset. However, all data in D-drive was also deleted. Why does PC reset also delete data
in D-drive and how do I recover the D-drive data?

  3. D drive

    Hi,

Based on the details you have provided us, it appears that there might be some corrupted contents on the said partition. We can also consider that this is caused by a virus.

For us to check if a certain virus is hiding your files, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Type Command prompt in the search bar.
    • Type-in the following command:

      attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
    • Press Enter to execute the command.

If you think that there is nothing important stored in it, then we suggest that you reformat your D drive so that you can use the free space for important files.

You can follow the steps below to start with the process:

    • Click on the File Explorer.
    • Select This PC.
    • Right-click on your D drive, then click on Format.
    • Follow the on-screen process to finish formatting the partition.

Let us know how it goes so that we can further assist you.

  4. Is it safe for me to delete DATA D: drive?

No C: but D: drive has all the data

    Hi Austin,

To help you with your concern regarding the data on the drive C:, you're seeing the drive "C:" as the drive "D:" because you're booting your computer outside Windows. When booting your computer outside Windows, the system is reading the recovery partition
as drive C: and the data in the drive C: \ are listed on the drive D: \. Try to boot your computer and try to check again the data in the drive C: \ and see if the data are listed.

    Regards.
