Windows 10: Is it safe NOT to update windows 10 forever?

I’m asking this question because the last time I updated my laptop got me into a problem where I can’t access my laptop anymore.

Basically it says “Something happened and your PIN isn’t available. Choose another sign-in option and set your PIN again by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options” but when I enter my password it says password is incorrect, I know for a fact that it’s not incorrect because I have saved all my passwords to my phone.

I tried searching for solutions on the internet apparently it’s a common problem after the windows update. I tried all the solutions but nothing works out because I can’t access anything like cmd without entering my password. The last resort was to bring my laptop to the repair shop and reformat it.

Is it safe not to update windows 10 anymore? I don’t want to experience the same problem again. I have removed the password/ sign-in options, but still I don’t wanna risk having a similar problem just because I updated the latest version of Windows 10.

Windows Update suddenly hangs?

Windows Update is suddenly hanging for some reason... I went and downloaded and installed the first bunch of updates, restarted when asked, and now when I go back to windows update I just get the window with a white box forever. Reboot and it still does it. This happens to be on my main machine, running windows 7.

I've also noticed when I reboot it says configuring windows update, step 3 of 3, 47%. Maybe it somehow skipped something and is screwed forever?
