Windows 10: Is it safe to delete empty files on C:Drive?

    Is it safe to delete empty files on C:Drive?


    I was deleting temp files and unused apps when I came across a dozen or so empty files called wal499A6B84, wal64BE7EC4, and such. I don't know what these files are or how they were created, but they date back between June 3rd and June 19th. Are these files safe to delete?

    Can I delete this unknown file safely?

    Well then simply erase (Shift + Del) the $RECYCLE.BIN folder of that drive, I just find it odd that Windows doesn't pick up the drive's recycle bin when you connect it.
    And yes it's completely safe to delete the whole $RECYCLE.BIN folder, it wont affect any of the other files/folders on the drive, and whenever you delete (Del) another file it will be re-created.

    i accidently save something to c drive. when i try to delete it says need admin permission. how do i delete it?

    i am on a computer that dont have any account only 1 and thats me. main one is me. 1 account.

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Is it safe to delete empty files on C:Drive? ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.
