Is it safe to delete files in c:\programdata\package cache and c:\windows\softwaredistribution

    Hi,

Need some technical help and advise, is it safe to delete files both in "c:\programdata\package cache and c:\windows\softwaredistribution"?

Will it post any technical problem after deletion? Example Windows OS corrupted?

    :)

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Is it safe to delete files in c:\programdata\package cache and c:\windows\softwaredistribution ;)
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

How can I stop my PC from booting up Windows?

You can safely delete the contents in..

    C:\Windows\Temp
    C:\Users\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp or C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (safe to delete the whole folder) (files are needed if you ever want to uninstall a Windows update)

I'm sure others can add to the list.

Deleting ProgramData files on C drive

    Hello

I am wondering if I can delete ProgramData files on C drive so I can free up space and help my pc run faster. I went online and saw related articles but they didn't recommend to delete them. But in ProgramData folder, there are many subfolders of Softwares
that I had uninstalled before. So, can I delete subfolders of deleted softwares at least?
