Windows 10: Is it safe to optimize SSD using Windows 11's built-in app? Previously my SSD died because...

i traumatized because using the windows 11 built-in app that called "Defragment and Optimize Drives" when i optimized my SSD at the midnight, there's no problem at all, but when i turn on my laptop in the morning, my laptop can't read my SSD at all. So i must replace my died SSD to new SSD. but i don't know where's the exact problem, it is my SSD bad or is it the app's problem? PLEASE HELP :I have tried many things to make my SSD can be read again by my laptop but it's uselessI read many blogs that says using that app can make the SSD runs smoother and can increase the lifespan, but i don't k

Microsoft don't recommend optimizing an SSD only HDD's, it is just they have not removed SSD's form the optimize list . . .

With regards to TRIM, you will not find that in a search, because it is not an application, it is a function of Windows that is turned on automatically, once Windows detects an SSD

Click your Start Button, then just type cmd and hit Enter

Paste this into Command prompt and hit Enter

fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

Does that command return a 0 i

I so, trim is turned on and you are good to go . .

 

Safe to run Intel SSD Optimizer on your SSD?

i am wondering if it's safe to run Intel SSD Optimizer on my Intel SSD, bcs it's said that u can reduce the life of your SSD by running a defrag and i can see in Intel SSD Toolbox they recommand u run Intel SSD Optimizer once a week, so anything know if it's safe to use or not?

• Does the BIOS recognizes the disk as HDD or SSD?
  

Suggest you to set the Optimize Drives Service to start automatically from the services window to check if that helps.

1. Open the run window, type ‘services.msc’ and press Enter.
   
2. Search for Optimize Drives Service and select the start-up type as automatic. Also ensure to start the service.
   

If you have set SATA controller to AHCI mode for Solid State Drive, in Device Manager it would show as SATA hard disk.

Follow these steps:

1. Click start, type “Defragment” and click “Defragment and Optimize your drives”.
   
2. On the “Defragment and Optimize your drives” window. Make sure that your SSD is categorized as an SSD.
   
3. If it’s not, then you can set it as a SSD on your bios. This way, you don’t have to exclude your SSD or disable any scheduled defragmentation.
   

Disclaimer: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring
