Is it safe to remove entries from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT registry?

    Hello,

I have uninstalled TeamViewer and want to make sure there are no leftovers.

I noticed that in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT registry there are the following five folders and sub-folders:

    - TeamViewer.Application\Curver
    - TeamViewer.Application.1\CLSID
    - TeamViewer.Service\Curver
    - TeamViewer.Service.1\CLSID
    - TeamViewerPilotSessionReporting\DefaultIcon
    - TeamViewerPilotSessionReporting\shell\open\command

And of course some entries within the folders.

Is it safe to remove these entries from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT registry?

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    -Ed

    :)

I wanna know if it is safe to remove the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT registry. Can It ruin windows or any software?

I saw a tutorial where they mentioned about deleting the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, but I don't know if I should trust them.

Is it safe to remove HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT registry?

Hi André, do not remove the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT key, you will do serious damage to your System

The main function of that key is to tell Windows all about the different files types on your system. What they are, how to open them . . . etc.

If you delete that parent key, you will not be able to run programs, open files and your system will become totally corrupt, . . .
