  2. realtime priority and dualcore

That was exactly my point about single-threaded apps, & assigning them realtime CPU priority manually, in my first post.

re your first post. the scheduler will always interrupt processes when they used up their timeslice. even at realtime setting.

but when it decides which process to give the cpu next it checks the process priority class first and then each thread's priority in that class. If there is always a realtime process asking for more cpu time it will starve out the lower processes.

"Process that has the highest possible priority. The threads of a real-time priority class process preempt the threads of all other processes, including operating system processes performing important tasks. For example, a real-time process that executes for more than a very brief interval can cause disk caches not to flush or cause the mouse to be unresponsive."

forcing all os stuff to one cpu and the main app to another doesnt make sense because the os cpu will be idle most of the time. it may make sense if you have a single threaded app that needs 100% cpu time. but usually the windows scheduler is smart enough to keep your app on the same cpu then.
anybody got numbers of many cycles it takes to switch an app from one cpu to the other?

Is it possible to run a program in realtime priority and move all the windows crap threads to the second core *permanently* ?
