Windows 10: Is it safe to use the optimize and defragmenting settings with a ssd

The thing about it is that online it says not to do it because it will defrag your SSD but when I look on other site it says you should optimise it with that setting because it speeds it up, when I look at the two my SSD when I do click optimize it says trimming and not defragging while my hard drive says defragmenting and not trimming is it okay? I'm not sure but my PC was lagging before and seems to be running normal now but at this point I don't know can someone help me?

• Does the BIOS recognizes the disk as HDD or SSD?
  

Suggest you to set the Optimize Drives Service to start automatically from the services window to check if that helps.

1. Open the run window, type ‘services.msc’ and press Enter.
   
2. Search for Optimize Drives Service and select the start-up type as automatic. Also ensure to start the service.
   

If you have set SATA controller to AHCI mode for Solid State Drive, in Device Manager it would show as SATA hard disk.

Follow these steps:

1. Click start, type “Defragment” and click “Defragment and Optimize your drives”.
   
2. On the “Defragment and Optimize your drives” window. Make sure that your SSD is categorized as an SSD.
   
3. If it’s not, then you can set it as a SSD on your bios. This way, you don’t have to exclude your SSD or disable any scheduled defragmentation.

SSD Defrag Optimization analize Not Available

Hard drives are analyzed to see if they need to be defragged. However, SSDs are never defragged for the following reasons

1. You gain nothing from doing it
2. SSDs have a limited number of writes. Unnecessary writing decreases the drive's life

Instead of defragging SSDs are trimmed automatically.

 

Safe to run Intel SSD Optimizer on your SSD?

i am wondering if it's safe to run Intel SSD Optimizer on my Intel SSD, bcs it's said that u can reduce the life of your SSD by running a defrag and i can see in Intel SSD Toolbox they recommand u run Intel SSD Optimizer once a week, so anything know if it's safe to use or not?
