Windows 10: Is March 14, 2023 security update - KB5023706 OS Build 22621.1413 blocking EA software?

I have been unable to launch Mass Effect Legends. I have verified the OS installation via Terminal using DISM.exe. Then produced a CBS log dated 3/27/2023 the only repair entry was for the Bluetooth driver. All other entries nominal and Bluetooth driver error flag was reset. The game's program files were then verified through Steam. EA Origin launcher has also been verified. I have also attempted to launch both "Mass Effect Legends.exe" and "Masseffect1.exe" independently as admin through windows explorer, where I received a message stating that the software vender was not permitted to run on

KB5023706 removes the icon in the corner that tells you how much time you have left.

I checked the update history of KB5023706 and there is no mention of this problem:

March 14, 2023—KB5023706 (OS Build 22621.1413)

To determine what's causing the problem, I'd like you to run a test.

1. Install KB5023706 as prompted and restart your device.
   
2. At this point, if you find that you cannot view the family security icon in the taskbar, please right-click Taskbar - Taskbar Settings - Hidden Icon Management in Taskbar.
   
3. Please check whether you can see the "family Safety icon", if yes, please open it (or close it first and then open it again), and then check whether the Family Safety icon can still be displayed in the taskbar.
   

If the Family Safety icon reappears at this time, the problem may be fixed, please continue to observe.

However, if the problem persists, please temporarily uninstall KB5023706 and report back to Microsoft through the Feedback Center so that Microsoft can arrange for an engineer to investigate the problem and fix it.

As Windows is used by a lot of people - issues are not documented which get hit by a fraction of users.

 

I did not receive all updates on "patch Tuesday" for March 14, 2023. Was this the case for anyone else?

Only one update was released for Windows 10/11 on that day, the Quality Update. The March 2023 .NET Framework Security Update hasn't been released yet. But, as far as I know, the .NET Framework security updates don't necessarily release on Patch Tuesdays.
