Windows 10: Is Microsoft allowed to change my password without my permission and no notification?

I have a personal laptop with it's own password, separate from all my other passwords. It was used to login after I booted. I locked the screen, and came back a few hours later with that password now, not working. There is no notification that my password was changed. I try some other passwords and the one for my email account is now the password to get into the laptop. The settings have no option for personal password anymore, the only option is to change my email password? So, yeah I'm at a loss.

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Try disconnecting the cable from the Internet:

• • If there is a Wi-Fi icon on the sign-in screen, click it and go to Airplane mode.
    
  • If there is a wired connection, disconnect the wire.
  • If sign-in is successful, let us know in the comments!
  • Also, we can then change to a local account, restart, and re-connect to the MSA.
    
  • If this works, please let us know!

2. Try sign-in on another device (phone or PC) via the
https://account.microsoft.com
page.

• If the sign-in is unsuccessful, stop and handle it like any other password issue.
  
• If sign-in is successful there, don’t try resetting/changing the password, continue to the next step.

3. Try using the On-Screen Keyboard to sign in on the PC.

4. If that fails, make sure the PC is connected to the Internet (the connection icon should be visible in the lower right).

Stop Windows 10 upgrade notification on Windows 7

Like so many others recently reported, if you follow the steps you suggest, it keeps coming back by itself.

I suspect the "steps" listed by Microsoft intentionally leave a loophole to allow them to sneak it back in. I am shocked, appalled, disappointed, and disgusted that Microsoft would change people's OPERATING SYSTEM without their permission—and furthermore
not be honest about it.
