    When will Windows 11 offer taskbar customization on the same level as Windows 10? The perma-locked taskbar position causes multiple issues for me. No third-party apps are allowed at my company due to security requirements. I use one of my monitors in portrait orientation, which means having to go from app navigation located at the top of the window, to the windows navigation located at the bottom of the screen. Furthermore, my chiropractor had me move my taskbar to the top of my screen years ago to encourage me to cheat my neck/head up rather than down when working at the computer. This small

    Windows 11 Taskbar is not moveable even when settings are correct

    Hello LiBeCa, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that you are having problems with the taskbar in Windows 11;

    Where do you want to move the taskbar?

    Before answering this question, I suggest that you make sure you are up to date with the latest version of Windows 11;

    Press Windows key + i and go to Windows Update;

    Click Check for updates and do ALL pending updates;

    Restart Windows Explorer;

    Press together the keys: Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager;

    Locate the Windows Explorer process;

    Right-click on it and select the Restart option;

    Windows Explorer will restart;

    Try moving the taskbar again;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!

    Windows 11 compatible but not even offered 21H2??

    I have an HP desktop PC and a DELL laptop and both are suitable for Windows 11 although it has not been offered as yet. Both machines have received the latest Windows updates and are on Windows 10 version 21H1 build 1288.

    1. I am not interested in upgrading to Windows 11 but, if the machines are suitable for Windows 11, why aren’t my machines being offered the upgrade to version 21H2?
    2. Are there issues with 21H2 that caused Microsoft to put an upgrade block on it?
    3. I am happy with version 21H1 and I assume I will not be offered the upgrade to Windows 11 until version 21H2 is installed. Am I right in this assumption?
    Thanks.

    Is Microsoft going to offer a moveable taskbar in Windows 11?

    Windows 11 taskbar icons not working

    Hi,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    I appreciate your interest in Windows 11. I understand that Taskbar icons are not working after upgrading to Windows 11. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    1. What happens when you click on an icon on the Taskbar?
    2. Do you receive any error message/code?
    3. Does this issue occur with all the icons?

    Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try re-registering the taskbar and see if that works. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below.

    1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin)
    2. Now type in the following command and hit Enter: Get-AppXPackage -User ([System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent().Name) *ShellExperienceHost* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
    3. Restart the PC once the command is complete.

    If the issue persists, you can try creating a new user account and then see if you are able to access the icons on the Taskbar.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,
