E-book readers and DRM

Does DRM enabled E-book reader mean that it can't read regular PDF files?
also, How are the battery life on these things?
and Netbook vs E-reader which is better?(cause they cost almost the same)

 

E book reader

I am in need of an E book reader what can, apart from being read can also read back the book (in other words, you can listen to the book being read). IOt also needs to be able to automatically search for and gather all the E books on one's computer.

I know there is one out there with a pic of an owl reading! TRhis one is smart: you can even choose either a male or female voice, an American or a British accent!. However, where to find it?

I am using Windows 8.1

e-book reader

Does anyone know of an e-book reader that will work with a 6790 Surge? I've tried MobiReader and they don't support a reader for this model. I know That I can use a PDF reader or a word emulator, but would really prefer a dedicated e-book reader. Thanks
