Windows 10: Is my account Microsoft account and windows system Secure? multiple global sign in attempts...

I have had the unfortunate experience of having my Microsoft account hacked recently. i had not been required to use the account for the last 18 months or so owing to not needing to update any Office 365 subscriptions as my employer had provided me with a laptop and all the office software req.When I signed in a trojan was activated and I received a ransomware mail in my spam folder about an hour or so later. I immediately went into lockdown to secure the account and rid my system of the malware virus. I have reset all passwords and reinstalled the Microsoft Defender with a fresh Microfost 365

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

• Is this the only account on the computer?
• Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
• Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.

Multiple "unsuccessful" sign in attempts on my account

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

if you are seeing multiple unsuccessful sign in attempts on your account from locations you do not recognize, then they are attempts to hack your account, it is not actually a person, it is a bot trying to access your account.

If you have set a long and secure password on your Microsoft Account and you have 3FA enabled on your Microsoft Account, then their attempts to access your account will not succeed, there is nothing you can do to stop them trying to hack your account, but you have no need to worry and they will eventually move on and try to hack someone else's account.
