I have an GL553VD Asus Laptop. After turning it one day the built in keyboard was no longer working. After doing some digging, I've noticed that I'm missing the "Standard PS/2 Keyboard Driver", usually found in "Keyboards" in "Device Manager".

I presume this is the problem with my built in keyboard not functioning.

    A few things to note:

    • The backlights of the bult in keyboard still lights up, however doesn't shut off during shutdown. So it is always on not matter what
    • the HID Keyboard device driver is present so USB keyboards work
    • The previous night, the built it keyboard worked fine, keyboard stopped working after startup. I did notice backlights didn't turn off that night

    • I did not download any application or updates overnight. The driver just suddenly disappeared.
    • I do not know if the driver was present in the first place as I only checked if the driver existed after I noticed the built it keyboard was not responding

    Pardon the chinese.

But As you can see, Standard PS/2 keyboard driver doesn't even appear so I can't update it as many website have suggested.

Solutions that I've tried but yielded no results so far:

    • Restarting, windows did not automatically download the driver
    • Scan for hardware changes Nothing showed up
    • Going to regedit, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt, and changing the "Start" value to 1 was previously 3

Unfortunately I have not made any recent restore points that I can use System Restore to get back to.

Any potential fixes or ideas on why this might have happened suddenly overnight?

    :)

Standard PS/2 Keyboard has a driver problem (Code 39)

Laptop keyboard [Standard PS/2 Keyboard] has stopped working.

    Error message as shown below:

[Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

    Object Name not found.]

    Have tried the following option-

    1. Troubleshooting option through Control Panel-Hardware and Devices- then restarting system

    2. Uninstalling the device and restarting the system.

Both have failed to solve the issue.

Q1. Am i missing any step here?

Q2. Are there other alternatives i can try to restore device ?

  3. Internal Keyboard showing as Standard PS/2 Keyboard in Device Manager

Sr, I am using Windows 10 on my Lenovo Laptop. My PC was OK till I connected a PS/2 keyboard on it. After I disconnected that PS/2 keyboard, My internal Keyboard is badly working i.e it is autotyping a particular key randomly and whenever I go on Device
Manager, The keyboard Driver is showing as Standard PS/2 keyboard though there is not any PS/2 keyboard connected. I have uninstalled the keyboard driver and restarted my PC but there is a beeping sound and the Standard PS/2 keyboard driver is back on device
manager. I have also removed my internal Keyboard and reinstalled it but no difference was made. I have also attached the Standard PS/2 keyboard again but nothing worked. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 10 but nothing actually worked. Should I buy
a new internal Keyboard? Will that fix the problem? I actually don't know why is my internal Keyboard is showing as Standard PS/2 keyboard in device manager. Please help and suggest me what to do to fix this.
