  1. Is my laptop registered at Microsoft to reinstall Windows?

Hello,My company bougth a laptop. Probably it came with Windows 11, but I don't know for sureThe company IT has a custom built Win11, so they flashed it onto the laptop. Now I want to buy the laptop privately, so the company will wipe off its custom version. How can I determine whether the laptop included a license for Windows with its purchase? I have no Windows key sticker on the bottom of the laptop, only a holographic Windows sticker. How can I einstall Windows 11, if it turns out that it was included with the laptop when the company bought it? Company IT doesn't know.Thanks.

    :)

  2. The MiniTool register from disk worked for me

This worked for me. The MiniTool instructions. Background: at first when I went into powershell (admin not needed to list them) and type: Code:
In the resulting list of 29 items, Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI was NOT listed. It was totally missing. So none of the more common "re-register" steps would work because they require Get-AppxPackage to see it and on my system it couldn't. But the MiniTool approach gets at it from the file location on disk: C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI_cw5n1h2txyewy This WAS there on my system. So, opening powershell admin (right click start menu) and running MiniTool's suggestion, namely, Code:
fixed it. It essentially reinstalled it. Then it appeared in the list returned from Get-AppxPackage and the "Open Windows Security" button in settings worked.

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops! Is my laptop registered at Microsoft to reinstall Windows?
Below are links to the thread that I got the fix idea from, and the official MS support info page for KB3119142(from which I quoted the above).

The Register makes a solid list of reasons to upgrade to Windows Vista

Hardcore Windows XP fans will claim that Vista is currently buggy and bloated. Hardcore Mac OS X fans will claim that at least half of Vista is inspired by Mac OS X. Hardcore Linux fans laugh at all of this, and simply install the free Beryl user interface on the latest free distro of Ubuntu (or some other *nix distro). However, The Register has found some compelling reasons to move from whatever you're using to Windows Vista. The following is a shortened list, please click the source link for the full version of the list.
    • UAC- It really makes the OS more secure, and despite how annoyed you may get with it, you have to admit it's a step in the right direction.
    • Windows Aero- It's pretty and easy. Enough said.
    • It comes with better bundled software- All the programs that come pre-loaded with Windows are either old favorites, or very new programs with great features.
    • Vista Live = Xbox Live for the PC. Really.
    • Halo 2- What Halo fans have been waiting for over the years is finally coming to the PC. And it looks better than most of us imagined.
    • DirectX10 API- All new games/ graphics cards will eventually be exclusively for DX10 and Vista, so we better get used to it.
    • Windows Vista search functions- Windows indexing the everything really helps when you misplace something.
    • Windows Firewall- It's pretty good this time around, if you need a firewall.
    • Lots of pretty hardware/laptops are coming out that are designed just for Vista.
    • Microsoft is pushing for a complete move to Windows Vista, hence, they'll drop support for everything older just like they did for Windows 9x and ME.
