Windows 10: Is my mobile compass capable?

Is the Microsoft Lumia 550 phone capable of utilising Compass app's. Thank you.

Lumia 640 Windows 10 Map apps Compass Problem

After Upgrading To windows 10 in my lumia 640 in the native Windows mobile Map application the compass is not working while the compass icon in the application dimmed up while the compass is working fine in the here map application or any other 3-rd party
compass application .

As you noticed, the hardware is missing for a compass. Because Microsoft Mobile does not re-add hardware after the phone is sold, please, go for another phone model.

A word of caution: Currently, Microsoft Mobile does not sell any phone model with a hardware compass. If you rely on a real compass which is not derived from SensorCore, I recommend to go for a

Lumia 730. This is the only Dual SIM phone I am aware of, which offers a compass. Even the current Lumia 550 and Lumia 950 (XL) Dual SIM extract the compass from SensorCore (which does not work for my uses).

My brother has one and there's no compass in it although you can find directions using GPS.

 

If you try installing a Compass app (there are plenty) you will soon find out. For example, I found my phone does not have the appropriate sensor (clear message from the app).
