Windows 10: Is my RAM soldered?

I am trying to replace my RAM with higher storage. I have already checked everything and so far I can upgrade except for if my RAM is soldered to my motherboard, in that case, I can not replace my RAM. Can anyone help? I am happy to share my model, serial, part numbers, etc.

RAM UNDETECTED

I am experiencing a problem with my ASUS VivoBook X571GT. The BIOS detects 12GB of RAM, but Windows 11 64-bit only shows 4GB. This is affecting my system's performance. Here are the details:

Soldered Rams in laptops trend , are they any good ?

The trend toward soldered in RAM is easy to explain. It reduces manufacturing costs.

Laptops are a competitive business. Manufacturers must reduce costs where they can or they don't last. Many haven't. For many buyers their priorities are, price, price, and price, not necessarily in that order. It is an old saying. Maybe too old for some.

The restrictions to expandability is no problem to most buyers. A laptop is an appliance. You buy it, you use it until it no longer meets your needs, then you replace it. Simple as that.

Soldered in RAM is hardly new. The original Apple MAC introduced in 1984 had soldered in RAM with no provision for upgrades. I am sure it wasn't the first.

 

Is the RAM soldered for these Toshiba?

No, it isn't. That's because Toshiba's PC business was spun off as Dynabook and is listed on Crucial as 'Dynabook-Toshiba' now.
