    Is my Windows 10 File History backup too small compared to hard disk size?


    Is File History backing everything up that it should?My hard disk is 165 Gb used plus 56 Gb empty Within the hard disk, my User directory is 92 Gb, plus about 10 Gb extra from Dropbox, Windows Online + Google Docs, in total 92+10 = 102 Gb of my data.I'm making a backup to an external disk with Windows 10 FileHistory. The total size of the File History backup on that is 70 Gb, of which 65 Gb is my data.I realise that a lot of program files and under-the-bonnet stuff won't be copied, but that is still a big difference between 165 Gb used containing 102 Gb data, and 65 Gb data. Can I trust

    hard disk speed with file size question

    Hard disk speed depends on the file size, right ?

    Like if you have 1000 small files each 1MB, it would take longer to transfer them, than 1 file of 1000 MB.

    My question is, Why so ?

    I will be buying a portable hard disk on which to place my backup of C:, using Win7's backup utility. What is the size of the new disk I'll need (compared to my C: size)? When I upgrade to Win10 and want to use the Win10 backup utility, will the answer
    be different?

    I was going by other advice and articles that suggest that backing up under Update and security/backup is now the way to go. I will try your suggestion.
