Windows 10: Is my Windows 10 Pro Flash Legitimate?

I am having repeated problems after converting from Windows 7 Pro 64 to Windows 10 Pro 64 supplied on a flash drive that I purchased retail.


At one point I had it working well enough to go through the validate procedure and it indicted it was valid.


However, after I shut the PC down that night, it would not work the next morning. None of the options work now except the CMD prompt.


Is it possible my flash, purchased from a major online retail business is not legitimate?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Pro Installation Starts, Screen Goes Black, Never to Return

Suggest using the Media Creation Tool to create a USB flash drive of the latest Windows 10 Pro and boot that to install from.

Download Windows 10 ISO file

At Step 8, instead of selecting ISO file, select Flash drive, then the tool will create the bootable flash drive for you to install from.
