Windows 10: Is my Windows product key still usuable after failing to install OS

My computer stalled and I was forced to turn off my computer midway through installing Windows 10, which inturn ended up rendering my hard drive unusable. I had entered the product key I purchased from the Microsoft website before said crash. I've bought another drive to install the OS on but my question is is the key I already purchased still usable even if the installation never finalized or will I need to purchase another?Thanks in advanced,AV

Windows Product Key

A friend of mine has an all-in-one that came with Windows 8 pre-installed. He erased the original OS thinking he could install another version of Windows 8. One thing he encountered, that he didn't expect, the BIOS/UEFI has a password. So, basically he is locked out from installing another OS. His BIOS has the product key nestled inside. Is it possible to find out which version the product key belong to?

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
