Windows 10: Is my wrong location a Windows 10 or Google problem?

In the attached example, I searched "pizza." The Google suggestions are 1,200 miles away from my current permanent location.

Google searches always have items located near my former home in another state. But my IP traces to the correct and current city and state. Control Panel Region & Language settings are correct, although they are general and set only to my correct time zone and U.S. The Windows 10 default location is set correctly. When I scroll to the bottom of a Google search, I cannot click on "Use precise location." Is this a Windows 10 problem or a Google problem? Or both? And how do I correct it?

here maps and google map in explorer 11 and edge showing wrong location yet firefox shows right location

I m using a HP Desktop and a HP laptop both on the same wifi both running windows 10 Po and activated

if I use the weather app and the map app on my desktop it shows wrong location when I use google maps in edge or explorer the same wrong location by around 10 miles

so I open Firefox use google maps and see there shows my right location within 80 meters so it has something to do with MS software as the wrong location is showing when it uses MS software .....That's the case on the Laptop

As for the Desktop no problems at all showing correct location within 50 meters but the desktop hasn't been moved in 2 years

where as the laptop always on the move

so took the laptop to work different location

and guess what same problem using the MS software

opened firefox and google maps and once again showed correct location within 80 meters

Please MS this is an Issue I have reported for months now find out how firefox browser plus google maps get it right but mircosoft edge, IE11,MAPS AND WEATHER APP CANT !!!!!!

 

Location

Cortana is showing the wrong location. If you go to Google maps and check the location, it will show the precise location. Your info on how to change Cortana to show my precise location is wrong. Can Cortana fix location feature of Microsoft to improve
it for everyone?

I tried to change my location according to Cortana and it doesn't change anything.

Is Cortana unable to learn from mistakes. Cortana shows my Location approximately 35 miles from where i live. Can Cortana change that to show the right location?

If location is turned on it's normally very good it depends how it's getting location is it the same in all browsers?

 

I use Firefox (latest version) and IE. Locations in both browsers are the same.

Don't bother with the 'Precise Location' thing; that's just so Google can track your interests,

 

Thanks, Edwin. Didn't work. But you think this is a Google problem, right? Still, I don't see how making adjustments in my Google account would affect Firefox searches whether or not I'm signed in to Google. Am I wrong?

 

Firefox (current version) and IE locate me incorrectly, but Edge locates me correctly. Because Edge locates me correctly, Google assures me that this is not a Google problem. I fixed "Use precise location," but even with updating the location, the location is still wrong. Is this a Windows 10 problem, a Firefox problem, or a problem with both Windows and Firefox? And how do I correct it? Am I missing or have I incorrectly set a Windows 10 setting?

 

Sometimes it is related to syncing. If syncing is turned off it may not update.

I would not even worry about the whole location thing. It comes off of where your ISP IP assigned to you that defaults. It does help when you are using Google Maps and looking up local business info.

 

The problem is fixed. When I Google "pizza," for example, or "Chinese food," Google suggestions are now local. For the benefit of others, here's how I fixed this: I went into Settings > Privacy > Default Location and entered my street address, city, and state. It took a few days, but I'm guessing that did it.

 

Actually it had nothing to do with entering your info. Google goes off of your IP, cookie info, where you are searching, etc. I can change my location to being in Antartica and Google, along with all of the other search engines are still going to state that I am in Central IL, in the city that my IP is registered at.

 

The location "reported by this computer" was wrong, so Google must have been getting the information from somewhere in Windows 10, right? That's why I changed the location in settings.

 

The Location info on your computer has zero to do with Google. Only Microsoft uses that info. As I stated before, Google's search engines go off of your IP, just like all of the other search engines out there that either run off of Yahoo's or Google's search engine software.

Anything that you search for in your area, will be remembered by that search engine website, since it collects it and tags with your IP that you are using.
