Windows 10: Is onmicrosoft,com just anither way of saying outlook.com?

Hello, I have a laptop that is running Windows 11 and I keep getting strange Emails that say they are from someone using an address ending with .onmicrosoft.com?? Most of these Emails are sent to the Spam folder initially, but I do not recognize this ending to a sender, and I am curious after being told that it has something to do with a Microsoft licensing somehow, whether or not this is the same as getting an Email that comes from .outlook.com??Please clear this up for me and Thanks in advance!!

I have just reinstalled windows on my computer. Why can I not login to Windows with my onmicrosoft (Office) password?

No. Also I followed the steps on Manage suggested recipients in the To, Cc, and Bcc boxes with Auto-Complete

cleared this list (Empty Auto-Complete List.)
disabled the option ("Use Autocomplete list..") and again cleared the list
relaunched Outlook in between
still those very old email addresses show up.

I give up.
