    Is Recuva safe to use?


    Last year CCleaner contained malicious code and users were told to restore from a backup and update to the latest version CCleaner.

    I've tried my best to research this issue, and so far haven't found any articles, but is Recuva safe? I'm assuming when the malicious code was discovered and removed, Piriform most likely verified that their other products were clean and safe to download and use, they just haven't said anything. I looked at their blog and it only mentions the security issue concerning CCleaner, but nothing about Recuva.

    Before downloading and using Recuva, I wanted to double check.

    Follow up with the purchase of a few inexpensive 8GB-64GB USB sticks where you put offline/local copies of such things in a safe or at a family members house for safe keeping.

    Reset computer to factory default , photos n docs got deleted also

    There are a few to choose from, Recuva is the current favorite.

    A few years ago, my HD crashed and I lost everything too; that's what it took for me to learn that running file backups and system images to an external drive is absolutely mandatory for any computer user.

    is right; go grab an external drive asap, back up to that, and you'll be immune to this in the future.

    Since Piriform mentions only Ccleaner, you can safely assume any other products are safe.
