  1. Is SecurityHealthHost.exe safe or malicious?

This is really weird. First, when browsing the internet, Kaspersky detects a potentially malicious script on a website (the yellow triangle icon), then a few minutes later, without me doing anything, Kaspersky randomly added "SecurityHealthHost.exe" to the Trusted Apps Group, saying by virtue of it being signed by Microsoft.

I've not heard of "SecurityHealthHost.exe" before. I've heard of "SecurityHealthService.exe" but not this... and none of my other computers have that file on it... just this one. It's located in the System32 directory.

However, Kaspersky Total Security, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, RogueKiller, and TDSSKilller are coming up blank. I'm in Safe Mode and about to run CCleaner, but if anyone has any ideas... I'd appreciate it. If this isn't a virus/malware and I'm just spinning my wheels over a false positive, I'd like to know.

I think what keeps confusing me, and the reason I'm not 100% sure it's not a virus, is that people on other forums keep mentioning "SecurityHealthService.exe" when it's "SecurityHealthHost.exe" I'm concerned about. I'm confused as to why there is so little information on SecurityHealthHost.exe out there, and the few Google Searches show it as being kinda-maybe malicious. No one seems sure, and that is what is confusing me. Why is there so little information on it? And why do some people have it in their System32 and some don't?

I guess I just want someone who understands that module to confirm that SecurityHealthHost.exe is a legitimate process. If anyone could do that, could provide an explanation, I'd feel so much better.

    :)

  2. Safely Remove Hardware tool

Thank you for the update, Murray. Since you mentioned that you've already tried running the rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll command to no avail, we suggest that you create a shortcut or even a batch file using the same command. Just run
the shortcut or batch file and see if the Safely Remove Hardware dialog window will appear. To create a shortcut, follow these steps:

    • Right-click on the desktop and click on New > Shortcut.
    • In the Type the location of the item box, type in, or copy and paste the following command:
      • rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll
    • Click Next and then give it a name like Safely Remove Hardware, and then click on
      Finish.

    Keep us in the loop.

    Malicious voters!

Yeah as I said, im talking about the case gallery, I am about to resend two of my cases because they were given malicious votes... given 1 without a reason... honestly whoever it is, you are a dickhead, if you are jealous, GET A JOB AND LIFE.

Now I suggest we should be allowed to see and report these malicious votes...

EDIT: Not only am I irritated it prevents my case from having fair votes as there is an "influence' thereafter.

  4. Is SecurityHealthHost.exe safe or malicious?

    New FF - passwords

    Hi:

If that setting is already enabled, then I suggest as the next troubleshooting step might be Mozilla Safe Mode (not to be confused with Windows Safe Mode)):

Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode | Firefox Help

    • Please report back and let us know the outcome, as it will dictate the next steps.
    • Also: please tell us what AV/AM/firewall programs are you running on this system?

    Thanks,
    MM
