  1. Is sound quality reduced in "Listen to this device" for recording devices?

I'm planning on setting a Virtual Audio Cable input as my default playback device and setting the VAC output (a recording device) to "Listen to this device" into my headphones.

Would listening to all my audio through the "Listen to this device" setting reduce the audio quality?

  2. Device Manager > Sound > Recording "flickering"

    Hi,

When you said you disabled it, did you actually disable the device by going to
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound
    > Recording, then right-clicking on the device and clicking on
Disable? Also, have you tried to plug in another recording device to check if it will exhibit the same problem?

In the meantime, we suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to scan your computer, identify the problems, and attempt to fix the issues automatically.

    • Right-click on the Start button, and select Control Panel.
    • Type troubleshooting in the search bar and click on
      Troubleshooting
      .
    • Click on Hardware and Sound > Hardware and Devices.
    • Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

We'll keep an eye out on your response.

    Poor quality on recorded sound

I have an HP Desktop - HVNE3HQ computer operating on Windows 10 Home edition, purchased in January 2017. It has DTS Sound Studio. When playing back any sound source recorded via 'Voice Recorder' the quality is very poor with a pronounced echo prominent
throughout. However, when playing good quality music files copied from my previous computer, or listening to music on Spotify, the sound is of very good quality. Also the sound quality is very good whilst listening to any other sources on the internet, eg
BBC iPlayer, ITV hub, etc. Any assistance to rectify this would be greatly appreciated.

Playback detecting Input Devices & Recording detecting Output Devices

    Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, what you suggested did not work for me, so I have just uninstalled VoiceMeeter and am using my default recording devices. The main reason I installed VoiceMeeter was to configure the sound quality of my microphone and also to play music & sound effects through it.

    Thank you again <3
