Windows 10: Is the cumulative 23h2 windows 11 updates harmull to install

Hi, after installing windows 23h2 my whole system was messed up. After installing my microsoft store was missing and some of my apps. I did do the windows 11 uprade installation, but after that I could not go into my settings, nor my system..nothing wanted to open. Last alternative I've done was to button reset my system. After reset everything had to be re-instlled etc. This cost me 5 day of productivity.My system is now sorted..windows 11 pro is correctly installed. I want to know if the updates "cumulative 23h2 windows 11 updates" will be harfmfull to my laptop..I dont want to sit wit

Windows Cumulative Updates failing to install

I'm having a large number of failures installing the December and now the January Cumulative updates for Widows 11 22H2 and 23H2. The specific updates are:

MS23-DEC: Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 - Windows 11 Version 23H2 - KB5033375 (x64)

and

MS24-JAN: Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 - Windows 11 Version 23H2 - KB5034123 (x64)

MS24-JAN: Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 - Windows 11 Version 22H2 - KB5034123 (x64)

I have followed the instructions detailed by David-M in this post: Windows Update failing to install - Microsoft Community and others with similiar steps, none of the steps have succeeded. I have tried using Windows Update locally, pushing the updates from our asset management software and even downloaded the specific CU locally, and running the installer/update. Regardless of the method, the install universally fails with: "Install error - 0x800f081f"

On the 22H2 systems I have also tried upgrading to 23H2 and generally speaking those fail as well. Does anyone have a similar experience and found a way through this?

 

Cannot install Windows 11 23H2

If your system runs 22H2 and is up-to-date, you can install the tiny enablement package to upgrade to 23H2 quickly.

Prerequisites

Before updating to Windows 11, version 23H2 using an enablement package, you must be running Windows 11, version 22H2. You must have the following prerequisite installed before applying this update:

Windows 11 23H2 upgrade broke File Explorer, it will not run

Good news!

Problem seems to be fixed by 2023-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5032190) update released 11/14 that I installed on 11/15. In the Knowledge Base notes is the following under File Explorer:

• This update addresses an issue that stops File Explorer from opening.
  

It worked for me, no longer have any problems, no need to re-install (somehow I couldn't roll back 23H2 update and had no recovery point before that time).
