Windows 10: Is the Security Update Failing for Anyone Else?

I logged on this morning to see the notification for new updates so I checked and saw the 2024-01 Cumulative Update, NET Framework Update, and Security UpdateThe Cumulative and NET Framework updates installed without issue; however, the Security Update keeps failing, no matter how many times I restart or RetryI've even gone ahead and installed the Cumulative and NET updates but the result is the same. it's started saying this once it fails as well;"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Update to Windows Defender (KB4052623) fails - labelled security risk!

I have a laptop running Windows 10 version 20H2. I have just tried to update it, using the normal updating process. A Security Intelligence update KB2267602 downloaded and installed successfully. But the other update offered, an "Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus antimalware platform KB4052623 (Version 4.18.2202.4)" failed. A retry failed. So I ran the Update Troubleshooter and tried again. Failure. I did Disk Cleanup and tried again. Failure. The error code given is 0x80070643. So (both puzzled and curious) I then thought I would look at the Microsoft Update Catalog and perhaps download this update directly and install it. I found it listed, and hit "Download". There are three .exe files. They would not download. And - here is the real reason for my forum post - when I right-clicked to bring up the Firefox browser download info popup, all three files were listed with a warning "File not downloaded: Potential security risk". Eh??? What is going on? I don't have any additional or alternative antivirus software installed, so I'm relying on Windows Defender. I would quite like diagnosis/explanation/solution rather than having to move to the radical step of a system reinstall. What further checks or troubleshooting steps should I take, and in what order?

 

KB4025339 Fails Install 0x80070564

I am trying Eagle 51's suggestions now. Windows Update troubleshooter found a bunch of errors and fixed all but one.The update is trying to download KB4025339 again. I'll see what happens. At step one troubleshooter finishes with one error unresolved "Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected-Not Fixed". Windows update stalled at 0%.

At step 2 same troubleshooter error. The KB finished a new download failed to install.
Did step 3 KB has downloaded but fails to install.

If Eagle's suggestion doesn't work I'll try EdTittel's suggestion

Tried bothe Eagle & Ed 's suggestions - do not work. Anyone else?

I have noticed that the latest update for my nvidia drivers has failed to update. Wondering about that!
