Windows 10: Is the Xbox 360 controller still compatible with Windows 10?

I have no trouble connecting my Xbox One controller, but it's got a really agitating drift on the left stick. I'm a little reluctant to drop the money simply for a new controller, because I have a 360 controller that works perfectly, but it doesn't seem to connect to my PC as easily as the Xbox One controller.

I'm 100% certain in the past that the 360 controller was able to connect as easily as the One controller, and it would employ the same plug & play reliability as the One controller. I've tried everything for the 360 controller. I've downloaded the most recent drivers, uninstall and re-installed, and also tried using older drivers in the hopes that one of them would work. No dice. The 360 controller would light up green and everything - but it wouldn't respond to any input in either Halo MCC or Forza Horizon 4.

Was this capability quietly patched out in a windows update? Is there a special driver or software that was released that I missed out on? I'm sorry if this is a commonly asked question and I may just have not looked hard enough, but the posts I've found across the internet haven't been particularly helpful - it's just more of the same.
