Windows 10: Is there a driver update for the smart cards?

I have two smart card readers both of which are giving me the same problem. The model of one of the drivers is IDENTIV SCR3500, and the other is a similar model by the same company. A few days ago, an error message popped up saying the driver wasn't working so I uninstalled the driver restarted my computer and reinstalled it, but it still did not work. I even went into registry editor and created a DWORD for the drivers as others have had a similar problem that it fixed. Now whenever I attempt to connect my smart card, the reader itself does not think there is a card connected to it. On both r

Smart card issue - "The smart card cannot perform ..."

Hello all,

sorry in advance for my English I'm French

I have an issue since I changed my computer last week. I use a French government website since 6 years who need a physical smart card with a certificat inside to run the website (1st step => the website read the smart card / 2nd step= the system ask me the PIN code of the smart card / 3rd step = the website run)

Since my new computer, I always have the same message when I want to run the website. "The smart card cannot perform the request operation or the operation requires a different smart card". System ask me with certificate I want to use so this step is normal (look screenshot)



but after, system never ask me the code I'm blocked (see screenshot)





I try on my old computer with the same card reader, same drivers etc... and it works great. I read multiple articles concerning this kind of issue but impossible to fix it. Drivers are update, the system is update.

We appreciate your interest in Windows 10. The description suggests the issue could have occurred due to drivers issues. I suggest you to update the drivers for Smart TV as well as graphics card and check if that helps. Here is the steps:

  Press Windows Key + R on your desktop screen to go to run command box.

  Type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
  
• 
  Look for the specified drivers, expand, right-click the device drivers listed, and then click
  Update.
  

I would also have you check with a different cable and check.

Connect a smart card

Thank you Yasir; I read the content in the link provided; the problem I have now is not to ask for smart card when log on but to connect a smart card when update applications. Do you have a suggestion for that?
