Windows 10: Is there a permanent solution to the problem of RAM Usable on Windows 7

My friend has a computer running Windows 7 and he told me that he has a problem with the Ram usable. Is there a solution to this problem, thank you These are the specifications of the device.Please provide the answer so that I can help him. Thank you for your efforts

Windows 7 RAM problem

i noticed a wierd issue with Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 and the RAM that i am using

Current PC config:-

E4500@ 2.2Ghz OC'd 3Ghz
2x1GB Team Xtreem DDR2 @800 Mhz 4-4-4-12
2x2GB Team Xtreem Dark DDR2 @800 Mhz 4-4-4-12
Nvidia 8600GT

Anyways, windows 7 was running fine when i had the CPu OC'd to 3Ghz and 2x1Gb OD's to 500Mhz 4-4-4-12. Windows 7 showed that 2 GB RAM was installed

Once i added 2x2Gb, it shows 6Gb installed (5.50Gb usable).

Now if i re-install windows 7, it first shows the RAM as 6Gb...after a couple of reboots goes back to 6Gb installed (5.50Gb usable).

From what i know, this issue is supposed to be with 32bit OS'es as they are unable to recognize more that 4 Gb of RAM. I'm using the x64 edition and facing a similar problem.

Any suggestion/tips will be appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Usable RAM out of available problem!

A known problem is when you you have insufficient amount of usable RAM.

If i install 3X2 Gb RAM, only 4 Gb is usable.
If i install 6X2 Gb RAM, only 8 Gb is usable.
If i install 6X4 Gb RAM, only 16 Gb is usable.

Whatever RAM i install, seems like a third portion of it is not being used and that just pisses me, like the rest you, probably.. Solutions have been tried to no avail:

1) update bios - did not help.
2) msconfig/boot/advanced options/maximum memory: check & uncheck - did not help.
3) set the RAM by default SPD (CL9 1.5V) and then by the recommended tested values (CL7 1.65V) - did not help.

What is left to do? Is this a Windows 64 bit problem or a faulty motherboard? I know many people had or still have this annoyance.

• update BIOS
• Take out RAM sticks completely re-sit (this worked for me weird)
• Run>Ms-config>Boot options>advanced boot>un-tick maximum memory

I had windows 7 Pro 64bit upgraded to windows 10 pro 64 bit I had 12gb 3x4 gb it sais 12gb (usable 4gb)

Turning of computer completely unplugging cable from power supple making sure no power is left in the motherboard or power supply, removed all the RAM reinserted this fixed the problem which is weird considering before upgrade windows 7 pro saw all 12 gb
and could use it.
