Windows 10: Is there a rationale for changing the color of a checkmark from green to purple in Windows 11?

In Windows 11, every instances of the Heavy Check Mark Alt + 2714 is replaced with a purple check mark instead of green.If you go to https://fsymbols.com/signs/tick/ you'll see the symbol rendered differently on Win10 vs Win11. MS Word documents and MS Stickly Notes containing this symbol will render it in purple, which does not typically conform with the expectation of a green check.Windows 10 Firefox, Chrome, MS Sticky Notes, etc. Windows 11 MS Edge, Chrome, MS Sticky Notes, etc.

Windows 11 Screen Colors Only Show Green, Purple, and Gray

I'm not sure what happened, but suddenly the only colors I can see on my monitor are green, purple, and gray. I think I might have been trying to change my wallpaper when it happened. I've tried all the self help options I could find online, but nothing is working.

 

Mysterious green checkmarks on desktop

I had the problem where my shortcut icons change from arrow to either no arrow, a grey X or a green dot with checkmark. Yet I never had any of the various programs suggested here. I tried for days to find out which process(es) was running when the change happened and was unsuccessful.

I've been on 1809 (but this started for me while I was on 1803) since November but it still did it until a couple of weeks ago. I had stopped paying close attention so I can't be certain exactly when it stopped but it seems like it had to be something in the December updates (12/6, 12/11, 12/19).

 

Green checkmarks missing in OneDrive for Business

Hi -

I'm a OneDrive for Business user, running Windows 10.

According to the blue icon in the taskbar, it appears that all my OneDrive files are in sync . However, when I look at the list of files in Microsoft Explorer, there are no green checks to confirm their synced status. I have followed advice in previous posts
on this problem, including this one from 2015:

The reason could be if the settings is disabled in registry. I suggest you to download Autoruns from the link below.Autoruns - Sysinternals

Then follow the steps below.

• Eexecute the Autoruns and from the program look for the entries that say OneDrive1, OneDrive2 and OneDrive3 in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers.
• Check all three boxes. If you are asked to Run As Administrator (UAC), agree and continue.
• Start OneDrive again.
• Your folders will show the green checkmarks now.

It didn't work. There were no OneDrive entries under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers. (see screen shot below)

Any other advice please? I like to see the green checks there as proof that my files definitely are in the cloud. I don't really want to mess around with the registry again as I'm way out of my depth.
