  1. Is there a way for Windows to not search for previously mapped but offline network drives...

I've been having issues with file explorer loading slowly with "Working on it...". This is a new laptop with SSD drive and this issue didn't exist for the first few days when I had it. It dawned on me and I was able to identify the culprit being a mapped network drive that I set up recently and access via work VPN. The mapped drive is not pinned under Quick Access so the solution provided in the image is not applicable in my case.

I'm not always on VPN, so every time I reboot the file explorer will hang as described above. Once I've connected to VPN, file explorer locates the mapped network drive and no longer hangs. Now I can disconnect from VPN and file explorer will work normally (never hangs again), with the mapped network drive showing as offline.

Truth to be told I've put off using Win10 for an embarrassingly long time. My previous laptop is still a Win7 and the same network drive set up does not have such issue.

Is there an obscure setting somewhere that stops Win10 from automatically looking for the network drive after reboot until I specifically ask it to (ie. when I connect to VPN at my leisure)?

Please let me know what other info I should provide and I will update the post with it.

    Thank you!

  2. NO Maps Offline

    Hi FrancoTerracciano,

Follow these steps on how to use Offline Maps:

    1. Download maps before you go offline. Then later, search for places and get directions in the Maps app, even without Internet access.
    2. On your Windows 10 PC or phone, select Settings
      > Apps, and then choose
      Offline maps.
    3. Select Download maps and follow the instructions.
    4. On Start
, select Maps to search for places and get directions on the downloaded maps.
Let us know how it works.

    Regards.

  3. Offline map use

Offline map selection and use on a Lumia 650 running the latest Windows 10 update is very difficult. I have downloaded 4 country maps for offline use and I can see them in Settings. If you tap on a given map in Settings the only option is to delete.
If I look for maps via the Maps tile on the opening screen while I am connected to WiFi, it goes to the map of one area that I previously selected as a favourite. My problem is that there seems to be no way to open and look at one of the offline maps previously
downloaded. Tapping the 3 bar symbol in the upper left beside the search box opens a list of options with the open map symbol highlighted. There is no obvious way to get to a specific downloaded map. It would be useful to have all available maps listed
under the MAPS tab so that they could be selected. This is a very useful feature in Google maps. Does anyone have knowledge of how a specific offline map can be accessed?
