Windows 10: Is there a way I can make my secondary storage a primary by not making it the boot drive?

Other than going to window settings clicking system then storage then "change where new content is saved" because even that doesnt help i need my secondary hard drive to be my primary storage hdd through file explorer not windows settings. Do I need to upgrade to windows 11?

Make Second Domain Controller Primary

I have 2 domain controllers, Primary is Windows Server 2012 and the secondary Domain Controller is Windows Server 2022. Primary successfully replicates to Secondary without issues and visa versa if I make changes in Secondary. I want to decommission the Primary DC, I followed the steps to transfer all 5 FSMO roles to secondary and now secondary is supposed to be Primary.

All servers see the secondary DC and it is listed as a DNS in ipconfig/all. When I shutdown the old 2012 DC, I Could not access any of the servers with domain name only IP. I tried flushing DNS but that did not help. I turned old server back on and was able to access my servers again but some servers had issues with RDP but are okay now.

Did I miss a step to make the 2022 server a Primary DC so old one can be decommissioned? do I have to make any changes on DNS Management?

 

want to make SSD primary boot drive and move HDD to storage.

I recently purchased a 250gb SSD and I want to install windows 10 on it to become my primary boot hdd, then make my existing HDD purlely for storage.

I am just wondering what the best way to go about making this transition would be.

 

Can only boot from secondary drive (Windows 10)

I'm having an issue where I can only boot from my secondary drive (ie. not the one where Windows is installed). This is a problem because I want to format that drive, and I can't boot from my primary drive that Windows is installed on.

I believe this started when I installed Xbox Game Pass for PC. The Xbox Game Pass app will only install itself/games to the default drive where applications are installed, and I wanted it to install to my secondary drive (my primary is small, my secondary
is where I install games and large applications). So I went into Windows Storage Options and changed the "New apps will save to" location to my secondary drive. When I did this, it appears some Windows system folders were installed to my secondary drive.

Now I'm trying to replace my secondary drive with a new one, and I discover that I can't delete those Windows system folders. Additionally, when I tried booting from my primary drive, I got a "Bootmgr not found" error. I tried booting from a USB Windows
ISO and using the repair feature, no luck. I tried using CMD to enter bootrec.exe /fixmbr, bootrec.exe /fixboot, and bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd to no avail. Now when I try booting from the primary drive I get a " "Operating System not Found" error.

How can I fix this short of reinstalling Windows on my primary drive? Will that even solve my booting problem? Once I do that, how do I delete the Windows system folders off my secondary drive?
