Windows 10: Is there a way i can recover unsaved text from my txt file

I was making a tab for a song and I saved the file and I closed it and when I came back to it about 20 minutes later all of it was gone, when I upgraded to windows 11 and I opened textpad it said that it would save offline. I never even turned my computer off.

I understand that you wanted to recover the unsaved Notepad files. Please follow the steps below to recover unsaved Notepad files.

*Click the Search button on your Windows then type %AppData%, and click Enter. This will open your Roaming folder.

*Type .txt in the search bar on the upper right then look for the Notepad files. To restore an unsaved text file notepad, click the file from the search result and see if you can recover the unsaved Notepad.

Recover an unsaved tab from Notepad

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you want to recover unsaved .txt files, but sorry, there is no way to retrieve unsaved text documents as there is no auto-save feature for text documents, you can try to find it in the Temporary Files folder:

- Press the Start button and type % Application Data %.

- Go to C:\ Users \ \ \ AppData \ Roaming

-Enter the name of the .txt file you want to find and search for the desired file in the list.



If the above program does not help you to retrieve the lost document, you can submit your ideas and suggestions through the Feedback Hub, and the development team will regularly review submissions for ideas or fixes.
