Windows 10: is there a way i can restore all of my files from my desktop that have been deleted via...

The edge browser was updating and froze up my computer so I wanted to get into task manager via ctrl+alt+delete, however, no menu came up so I thought I was hitting the wrong shortcut, therefore I proceed to type ctrl+shift+delete, and the next thing I see is all of my desktop items are gone. That's when I was searching around and found out shift+delete permanently deletes the files highlighted instead of putting them in the recycling bin. Now I am at a loss and unsure what I can even remotely do.Is there any possible way I can restore my desktop files back?

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Shute I never thought about system restore. But its been more than a week now, don't know if I can go back that far. But even then will it put back user files?

So your running the backup software from the server and not the computer.

Yep I see whats happened. Just for the future (althought I am sure you wont make the same mistake again) make sure you select and option that says "if it cant find the file, DONT delete". If it doesnt have that option...switch to SynbackSE.

An FYI: difference between incremental and differential is that differential copies all new / changed files since the last full backup......incremental copies all new / changed files since the last backup no matter what it was (incremental/full/differential).
