  1. Is there a way to change the location of installed programs?

So... I'll try to keep it short.

I put a caddy on my laptop (for who doesn't know what that means, I sacrificed my dvd-rom for more disk space), and I put in a 250gb (not the precise number) SSD in my main slot. I was planning on cloning the older 700gb (same) HD onto my SSD, so that I wouldn't have to reinstall every program from scratch.

However, the technician told me that it wasn't possible to do it. I'm not knowledgeable in these things, but basically he told me that it wasn't possible because of how UEFI partitions work. I don't know if I got it right. What he told me was "buy a bigger SSD and I can clone it for you, but with the one you bought you'll have to reinstall all the apps one by one."

As you can imagine, that's quite tiresome. Is he right? Or is there a way to change the position that he may not be aware of?

He kept the older windows installation intact with all the software on the HD, and he installed windows again on the SSD.

    Thanks in advance.

    EDIT---------------------

COMMENT: Doing the clone is very easy, assuming there is enough space on the SSD, as long as you don't have 250GB of stuff on the HDD, it is easy to clone. Tools like Macrium Reflect Free can take care of that. You would need to boot to the HDD again, then inside that have Macrium make the copy.

REPLY: That's another issue. I tried to do this thing by myself. But for some reason Macrium kept telling me that there wasn't enough space for all the data on the SSD, despite the fact that I backed up and deleted most documents from the HD precisely for that reason so that I could put it back on the HD (as it would become the secondary drive) later once the cloning process ended. Ther wasn't much to do, for some reason Macrium kept telling me that there wasn't enough space on the ssd.
