Is there any permanent way to disable W10 behavior to install their drivers/delete my drivers? For example I download complete pack of drivers to install, and then W10 tell it does not recognize chipset or video adapter etc. Although I did not reinstall all drivers that time only nvidia drive. Thanks for idea and suggestion anyway, I try to figure out that and post here about result.

You can hide all driver updates to prevent them installing, but this is not a permanent solution. As soon as a new driver update is available you have to hide it again (check every few days). At least it is a viable workaround until Microsoft returns to the old Windows Update behavior that showed you all the updates and allowed you to choose which ones to install.

I got it, the problem is I don't know when MS issue new drivers for what, it is easy to miss their activity, you have to check it day by day and it is ridiculous. As far as I understand their updates can cause conflicts in system so I will have to reinstall system again, because there is no way to install new/old drivers when some chipset drivers are misconfigured. I seriously think to come back to windows 7 Is there a way to check notebook driver campatibility before install? :)

At least you won't have to hide the same driver more than once. You have to hide only a new version when present and this is not very frequently, except for graphics drivers. Checking once a week should be safe.

Your solution does not work. I can't install any sort of driver for lost nvidia device at the moment. I have unknown 'Display' and 'Media' now. Every type of installation of drivers finishes with error 28. That includes M$ installer which downloads drivers tries to install then and then say 'Hello no, error 28'. Why this company can't make normal system after some many attempts, they are obviously not idiots and have experience... Windows 7 come back I love you.

Try updating the chipset drivers first and then your GPU should be detected properly and accept the drivers.

Did you think I have not tried? Is there a way to check notebook driver campatibility before install? :) I have just repeat that ritual, and result is the same. MS also change windows 7 style of system restore completely I hoped at at least that could help, but has not previously saved archives. I will look for windows 7, that piece of beta software named windows 10 had not published as it is now. MS must write software for US military projects, we see no wars for at least 2-5 years...

I found system restore in control panel, now there is 2 systems restores and 1 system reset, as I understand. I managed to restore system with MS generic driver. Why does MS cosplay Apple with such approach to drivers, no one knows but it is obviously stupid, their drivers are not optimized, I have couple of bugs and artifacts with them and can't change them, what else could cause such problems wit lost devices if system chipset drivers were updated?

It seems chipset drivers update made some changes in system, now it does not tell there is error 28, but if tells there is no necessary inf line somewhere. That is when I try to update drivers via device manager's driver update button. It downloads driver and then can't install it. Not a solution, but seems like step forward Is there a way to check notebook driver campatibility before install? :)

Ok it is new sort of bug. 860M is fully recognized, I mean it is presented in video adapters, it is written it has 10.18.13.5582 driver, but no application recognizes it exists, some recognize as unknown accelerator and then crash, another say there is no accelerator at all... sorry there was no step forward people...

When everything else fails, you can manually force a driver from Device Manager. Right-click on the graphics card, select Update driver, but do not allow Windows to search for it. Instead click on the last option, then click the last option again until you see a Have disk button. Click on this button and browse to the folder where the nVidia driver is extracted. Select the first 860M model from the list and proceed to install the driver, even if you see a message that compatibility cannot be verified. Restart the computer and it should be OK.

Of cause I tried it all, every sort of installation of every type of driver no matter whose driver it is fails finally, the only difference before updating chipset drivers I had error 28, when after updating I had missed inf line. I had to find another restore point from past week and restore my system. Surprisingly drivers works after that. So we come to conclusion W10 can't normally upgraded and it is not finished system. Their new layer between system core and drivers does not work correctly and drivers can't be updated. W7 rules.
