Windows 10: Is there a way to convert my windows 10 file format from MBR to GTP without wiping my hard...

My windows 10 computer is fully compatible with windows 11 but it can’t update due to secure boot not being seen because the file format is an MVR and needs to be switched to GPT and I’m wondering if there is a way of doing it without wiping my hard drive

Converting to GPT format using Command Prompt in Windows Setup

Power off the PC, and insert/connect the Windows installation DVD or USB key.

Power on the PC and tap F12 key until One-Time Boot Menu appears.

Select the Windows installation DVD or USB in the menu and press Enter key.

From the Windows Setup screen, press Shift + F10 key to open a Command Prompt window.

In the Command Prompt window, type diskpart and press Enter key.

To identify the disk drive to reformat, type list disk and press Enter key.

To select the drive and reformat it, type select disk # (substitute # with the actual disk number e.g. select disk 1) and press Enter key.

Type clean and press Enter key.

Type convert gpt and press Enter key.

Type exit and press Enter key.

Close the Command Prompt window. If you are installing Windows, continue with the Windows Setup process.

MBR TO GTP AND DOS TO UEFI

recently upgraded hard drive to 1 TB on a dell inspiron 1525. I need to do 3 things.

1. update DOS when i dont have the power requirements (0% not 10% as required). Trying to create a bootable usb has proven more difficult than i imagined to "forceit";
2. with the new HD, i NEED to change it from mbr to gtp; and
3. i also need to change from dos to uefi and to do this i need to disable secure boot. my dos doesn't have that option.

What can i do to fix these issues (other than buy a new system i cant afford).

I hope someone can help me.

 

Cannot boot or reinstall windows, or wipe drive

Please try to use Diskpart to wipe the Disk drive. Refer to the steps below.

1. During the Windows 10 setup, press Shift + F10 keyboard shortcut to open Command Prompt.

2. When Command Prompt opens, enter diskpart and press Enter.

3. Now enter list disk and press Enter.

A list of all available hard drives will appear. You need to select the disk that you want to wipe.

4. Enter select disk 0 and press Enter.

5. Enter clean and press Enter.

6. Optional: Use convert gtp or convert mbr command to convert your drive to the desired type.

7. Enter exit and press Enter.

Close Command Prompt and try to install Windows 10 again.
