  2. Is there a way to collapse "redundant" folders in file explorer?

    HI Dillyjb97,

The Navigation Pane Tree of your File Explorer is designed to work as how you have described it on your post. It doesn't have an option to expand the items in Folder 1/Folder 2/Folder
3 view. However, you may enable some options on your navigation pane to automatically show the folders within a folder without having to double click it. Just click the drop-down option on the Navigation Pane and tick the other three options as shown
    in the photo below:

You may also set the single-click option to open an item in your File Explorer. Here's how:

    1. Open File Explorer and navigate to View > Options > Change folder and search options.
    2. Under the General > Click items as follows, tick the
Single-click to open an item (point to select)
      .
    3. Click Apply, then OK.

If the above options won't work for you, then you may send this as a suggestion through our
Feedback Hub. This way, our software engineers will be able to look into your suggestion. Please follow the steps provided in Send
feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app
    to submit your suggestion.

Please let me know if you need further information.

    Regards.

    Expanding folders in file explorer

    Hi,

In answer to your query, yes, there's an option to change the Folder View Options of your File Explorer. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Click File tab.
    • Select Change folder and search options.
    • Click View tab.
    • Under Advanced settings, scroll down to Navigation pane.
    • Check Expand to open folder, Show all folders, and
      Show libraries.

You can also check all the options, and set it up the way you wanted.

We'll be here if you need more help.

Is there a way to customize File Explorer to show only the folders you want to see?

    File Explorer file structure customization

I suggest 1 Set File explorer to open at ThisPC File explorer, View menu, Options [an icon on its right-hand end]: Open File explorer to: ThisPC 2 Tidy up the list of drives so they are not repeated. Once again, this is not altering any drives, only your view of them. All drives will be shown within ThisPC. Add or Remove Duplicate Drives in Navigation Pane of File Explorer - TenForumsTutorials 3 Clean up navigation pane - this might be what you described having just done. In the clear area under the last entry in your left-hand pane ['Navigation pane'], right-click

    - Clear Show libraries, - Clear Show all folders, - Click on Expand to current folder to set it. 4 Close & re-open File explorer then post another screenshot of it when it opens along with your comments about what else you want to change. My comments A You will sometimes see the whole tree shown as stemming from "Desktop" & your user name but with these settings it will not happen very often [and it will never open that way]. B I do not suggest hiding Quick access. I find it very useful for getting straight to some specific folders without having to browse down to them.

You might like the Recent items, Recent folders entries or you might not. If you would like them then I'll dig out the instructions for showing them. I don't use them very often at all. Oh, the proper part is south of the Thames, Thanks for the rep, Denis
