  1. Is there a way to defer updates for more than 35 days?

Hi guys. I recently updated my windows 10 after delaying the update for a year. On previous windows 10 version (1909) i was able to delay feature updates for 365 days, and security updates for less time, i think it was 30 days. I enabled this feature to avoid receiving a broken update, so i prefer to wait and download when the update is already "bug free".

But on the newest windows 10 version 20h2, i can only defer updates for 35 days. I was wondering is is possible to restore the feature to delay for 365 days. If is not possible how can i stop any updates from installing?

What can defer a windows 10 update besides the update channel and the number of defer days?

I have my updates on Windows 10 Education set to the Semi-Annual Channel and the defer time for both feature updates as well as quality updates are set to 0 days.

Despite this I'm stuck at Version 1709 (Fall creators update) although according to this document from Microsoft Version 1803 is available since 10 July 2018 on the Semi-Annual Channel.

Furthermore I have noticed that Windows starts downloading Version 1803 if I stay on the Semi-Annual Channel and set the defer times to 1 day which makes no sense to me but at least shows that my system seems to have no general incompatibility with 1803.

    Therefore I have two question:

    • What could be a reason that I don't get update 1803? Is there anything besides the update channel and defer time that influences this?
    • How can a higher number of update defer days lead to the installation of new updates?

Just to clarify: I'm not asking how I can install update 1803 (I know that I can either force it by manually installing from the ISO or I can set the number of defer days to 1 and install it that way). Instead I'm interested in what could have prevented the update when defer days was set to 0 and why it is offered when I increase the number of defer days.

Pausing Updates in Windows 10 Pro version 1703 - Laptop 35 days and Desktop 7 days?

That's awfully strange that you are saying 7 days, when every Windows 10 Creators update article on this subject shows 35 days, including in the pictures, four friends' and one relative's computers with Windows 10 Creators update have 35 days, my laptop
has 35 days and my desktop has 7.

The laptop isn't the problem. The desktop is. Why? Because it only allows deference for 7 days.

No edited settings. Not a workplace laptop or desktop. Both personal.

Secondly, I'm fully aware of what the purpose is for deferring updates.

    deferring semi-annual feature updates gone?

    W10 Pro v1903
I upgraded to v1903 some week ago, and in the delivery settings I selected -as usual- postpone time for further updates/upgrades as long as possible (365 days, resp 35 days).
Therefore I was surprised that yesterday an automatic update was taking place. That update did not appear in the update history list. But now, the option of deferring upgrades for 365 days is not available anymore.
