Is There a Way to Disable New Wifi Connections From Appearing Read Context

I'm gonna preface that I'm NOT looking for this option so I can actually disable new wifi connections from appearing in the Wifi list; in fact, it's the oppositea few months ago, I got a bit concerned over network security and I did things like disabling UPnP on my router and Network Discovery on Windows; however, I've been told that Network Discovery has no bearing on Wifi networks appearing in the list the thing is that I'm not sure if I ever came across a setting that disables/prevents different, or new Wifi from appearing in the list of available networks on the taskbar, and in SettingsI

    :)

  2. Problem with New Context Menu

The option to add a new Rich Text File seems to have disappeared from my Context Menu and I'm not sure why.

I'm not computer savvy, but after a bit of Googling I read how you can add and delete options from the New Context Menu though the Registry Editor. When I went to check it the .rtf folder under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT still has it's ShellNew folder so I'm not
sure what the issue is or if perhaps there's something wrong with it. I also found a tool to easily enable/disable file types on the New Context Menu, and .rtf is listed along with everything else and checked off as "enabled" but for some reason is not showing
up, even after I tried disabling and enabling it a couple of times. This is extremely frustrating as that's the file type I use the most.

Any suggestions as to what the problem is or how to fix it?

Is it possible to set up a new manual wifi connection from the command line?

I'm trying to work out a solution to set up ad-hock wifi connections in Windows 8.1 based on the suggestions in a post on Micsrosoft's answers site. Is there any way to do the first few steps:

    • go to "Network and Sharing Center"
    • click "Set up a new connection or network"
    • double click "Manually connect to a wireless network"
    • enter the SSID of the ad-hoc network (as shown by "netsh wlan show networks") into the "Network name" field
    • configure security settings accordingly
    • uncheck "Start this connection automatically" (important)

    ...without using the windows dialogs?

    Windows 10 - WIFI 2 - Cant connect

    Hi
    Myamara,

It is possible that your drivers are outdated or the connection itself has the issue. We suggest that you perform
    these methods of troubleshooting
and check if there are any changes:

    Method 1: Reset TCP/IP

To do this, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt
      as
      Administrator.

    • Run
      this command:

      • netsh int ip reset
        and hit
        Enter.

    Exit
    Command Prompt
    and
    monitor your WiFi connection.

Method 2: Disable auto turn-off of WiFi device.

    Go to
Network and Sharing Center. At the
    right pane, click
    Change adapter settings.
    Right-click
    on your
    connection name(WiFi name)
    and go to
    Properties.Click
    the
    "Configure..."
    button and go to
    Power Management
    tab.Uncheck/disable
    the
    radio button
    for
"Allow this device to turn off this device to save power". And then,
    Restart the PC(Important).

    Method 3: Reconfigure TCP/IP

To do this, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt
      as
      Administrator.

    • Run
      these following commands:

      • netsh int tcp set heuristics
        disabled

      • netsh int tcp
        set global autotuninglevel=disabled

      • netsh int tcp set global
        rss=enabled

Update us on how it goes.

    Regards.
