Is there a way to disable the media keys on a keyboard from controlling windows 10 system...

So I've got a new keyboard that has some media key shortcuts. They seem to work intelligently and are able to play/pause and skip back forward with whatever media source is playing. Volume however is always grabbing the windows 10 system master volume. At first I assumed the functionality simply wasn't there, however when I looked into VLC media player, there is actually a specific option that can be enabled to prevent or enable the player to use the keyboard volume keys. This option unfortunately has no effect for me. Interestingly enough, you can even hold the Fn key and press the volume key when binding a key and it will show up in the programs UI as Volume Down, yet even saving the change, relaunching the application, and even rebooting the PC it still only control the system wide master volume and the in-app volume isn't raised or lowered.

It DOES however work with MusicBee, and when the bindings are set and "Global" is ticked, the keys no longer adjust the system volume at all. I'd love it if there was a way to get chrome to do this, I'm thinking maybe if I was able to disable the system level volume control without disabling the Vol Up and Down keys themselves it might be able to work, otherwise maybe a chome extension is needed.

    Thanks for any advice here!

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

    keyboard

    Hi ronks,

Windows 10 tablets has a feature to enable and disable the on screen keyboard. We suggest that you disable the on-screen keyboard through the control panel by following the steps below and check if it helps:

    • Press the Windows key + R.
    • Type Control Panel and select the top most result.
    • Type ease of access center in the control panel and open it.
    • Click "Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard".
    • Make sure that the "Use on-screen keyboard" is unchecked.

    Let us know the results.

How to disable the multimedia keys on Windows 10?

    Hi,

Thanks for the update and response,

As you have mentioned that you can’t see the keyboard settings in the Windows 10.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps,

    1. In Search Bar type Control and then Enter.

    2. In the Right pane you will get View by Category.

    3. Select small icons and check if it helps.

    Or try the below steps

    1. Press Windows + R for Run.

    2. Type main.cpl keyboard.

If the issue still persists I would suggest you to do System file check and check if it helps,

System file check is a utility built into the Operating System that will check for system file corruption the
sfc /scannow command (System File Check) scans the integrity of all protected operating system files and replaces incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions where possible.

System file check works on Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1, and win 10

I suggest you to try the steps provided, in the link below in order to run SFC scan on your computer.

System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files & DISM to fix things SFC cannot

The functionality keys like multimedia keys can be disabled by either uninstalling the application from the Windows operating system or disabling it through the keyboard properties from the Windows control panel.

•Highlight the "ActivBoard" or "Keyboard Manager" application in the installed applications list and click the "Remove" button to uninstall the application.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.
