  1. Is there a way to force Windows 10 to load external HDD's after startup not during it?

I have several external HDD's, my Windows 10 is installed on a internal SSD and i have noted my usb drives slow up the start up time quite noticeably.

What i would like to do is have Windows 10 open my usb drives only after it has finished booting itself from the SSD drive. Not waste time opening my slow external drives during bootup process.

I have tried googling for a solution for this with no success. I have disabled the unnecessary drives as an boot option in bios hoping it would help, but it didnt have any effect.

I could try going the low-tech route of manually shutting off the usb hub the drives are connected to before starting the pc and then powering the hub back on when Windows is open, but come on, its almost 2021, there has to be a smarter way than that.

Any help on my first world problem?

  4. Is there a way to force Windows 10 to load external HDD's after startup not during it?

    external HDD

    Hi,

Usually, this problem occur due to software incompatibility or corrupted USB drivers. For us to better assist you, we would like to clarify the following:

    • Have you made any recent changes on your computer prior to the issue?
    • Which driver did you uninstall? Have you reinstall the driver? If yes, how did you reinstall the driver?
    • Have you check if the external HDD is visible in Device Manager?

If the issue still persists after uninstalling some games, we suggest that you run the troubleshooter for hardware and devices. If you're using the latest Windows 10 version, follow these steps on how to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

    • Click the Start button and select the Settings
      icon.
    • Choose Update & Security from the list.
    • Click Troubleshoot in the left pane of the window.
    • Under Find and fix other problems, select Hardware and Devices and click
      Run the troubleshooter.

We're looking forward to your reply.
