Is there a way to hide unused card reader devices that show up as drives in the file manager?

    Hi Gurus,

I recently did a fresh install of Windows 10. On my computer I have a built in hardware device with four card readers different size memory cards for cameras etc. These show up as drives in the file manager and are categorized as drives in the device manager.

I would idealy like to have them not show up at all in the file manager, or only show up when in use. Is that possible?

    Thank you for your time

    /Magnus

    :)

    hide empty drives

Thanks, I'll give it a try, I do want to work with hidden folders, it's just those unused card readers that were not there before Win 10.

    Have a great week!

    hide empty drives

    I used your reg file
but it does not hide empty drives from card readers

My usb hub has card reader slots which does not currently have any cards or drives in it

    how to hide these drives?

Windows 10 not showing card reader in device manager.

    Hello,

To better assist you, kindly answer these questions:

    • Have you tried to insert the SD card reader to a different computer and see if the same behavior occurs?
    • Can you give us the exact message showing up in the device manager? A screenshot is highly appreciated.
    • Have you tried to open it in a different user account?
    • Have you tried to insert it to a different port?
