Windows 10: Is there a way to keep windows extended display off when second monitor is powered off/not...

To make sure the question is understood, I have my main display for a custom built PC and a graphics tablet with a screen built in as a "second" monitor. I only ever use the graphics tablet for art, 2D animations, photo/video references for 3D animations or using streaming/recording software sometimes other things too, so I need to make sure that I have the display extended when using it. I already know that I can go into the settings and switch it back and forth, or even unplug the graphics tablet when not in use, but what I'm wondering is if there's a way to have it default to "Extend Di

Extend Display to second and third monitors

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you are unable to extend the display to second or third monitor. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, it would be great if you can help us with the details requested below:

• What happens when you try to extend the display?
  
• Do you receive any error message/code?
  
• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  
• What is the make and model of the laptop?
  

Ideally, to extend the display we can use the shortcut Windows logo key + P, and select
Extend from the menu.

Cannot extend display to second monitor

I am using windows 10 pro on my Powerspec desktop PC. I have one HP monitor and one AOC monitor. I had three monitors (one HP and 2 AOC monitors) working fine using extended display. After removing one monitor (now have 2), the extended display does not work any more. I can use "Duplicate these displays", "Show only on 1" or "Show only on 2", all work fine, except "Extend these displays". When I select Extended, the second screen shows up with task bar, but I cannot move any window onto the second screen. The mouse does not move over either. I tried update the display driver, rebooting computer, reconnect the cable, nothing works! What's wrong?

In order to for your Windows 10 to show the native display for the second monitor, you may revert all screen settings back to default, and see if this resolves the issue. If it doesn't, you may try these steps:

• Press Windows key + P.
• If your monitor settings is on Duplicate, try choosing
  Extend.
• If your monitor settings is on Extend try choosing the
  Duplicate.
• Check the resolution if both monitors are showing the same resolution value.
