Windows 10: Is there a way to know what version of windows 10 was activated on my PC

I was given a computer from a relative that he bought in 2008 that was top of the line then and still is good enough for my kids to do school on now. It had Windows 10 installed on it, but it had a password so I thought I'd just reinstall a fresh copy of Windows anyway and it'd re-activate itself, but I was wrong. The computer was a custom home built with "after market" parts so it isn't OEM. I installed Pro x64 but I'm just curious now if HOME or a different version would have been able to activate? Or if there is any product ID info on the hardware that Microsoft would have on file or if there is anything to do at this point. Technically it isn't a big deal as the computer still works un-activated, but if it was something easy it'd obviously be better activated. The only other thing that I'm thinking is if the computer's digital activation is linked to the previous person's Microsoft login and if so would I need to be logged in on their Microsoft account to get it to activate?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Build 10240 - Any expiry on ACTIVATED versions??

I was going to do that for my benefit because of the way I have my partitions setup and to be legal with the EULA that isn't a step by step instruction. Right now I am waiting to see if build 10240 is actually the release build and yes I know at lot of people don't believe 10240 is the release version. I still may need to do that if build 10240 is not the release version.

 

Windows 10 Snipping Tool on Windows 7

All it is is one extra step beyond what is native to windows 10. Yes, technically it would be easier to have the functionality of print built in to the Windows 7 version, but you just have to save it ,and right click on it ,and print.

As far as getting the windows 10 version into windows7. I know there was a way to get the old winpaint, so maybe there's a way to get the snipping tool into 10, I don't know.
