Is there a way to limit windows defender for reporting only?

I am performing an experiment in a cyber testbed which include an emulation of infection 3 windows working stations Windows 10, Windows 10, Windows 11. Since this attack is known to windows defender it automatically quarantine the malicious files. In order to perform the experiment properly I disabled the Real-time Protection in the defender's configuration. As expected the files were not isolated and the attack was successful. However, for the sake of my research I would like to allow the anti-virus still report the alert about the suspicious file even if it does not perform any act agains

    :)

    Windows Defender Released

Microsoft has released the final version of its Windows Defender anti-spyware utility. Windows Defender is a product of the Microsoft acquisition of GIANT Software. Previously known as Windows AntiSpyware, after a two years beta period it's now available for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 under the name Windows Defender. Windows Defender incorporates Real-Time Protection to monitor systems for spyware activity, automated spyware removal with scheduled scans, full integration with Internet Explorer 7.0 and automatic spyware definition updates from Microsoft. Windows Defender is available freely to all customers running a genuine copy of Windows. Microsoft has also announced that customers will each be allowed to report two support incidents for free with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Windows Defender incorrectly reports threat in Volume Shadow Copy

I think you misread my question.

I did what you suggest immediately after I first downloaded the file.

The problem is NOT that the file itself gets flagged -- it does not as it is in the exclusions list.

The problem is that the exclusions list applies to the absolute path to the file.

What Windows Defender is complaining about is the COPY of the file that is present in the Volume Shadow Copy, NOT the original file.

There appears to be no way to tell Windows Defender to ignore the COPY of the file in the Volume Shadow Copy. Then, every time my backup program (Retrospect) runs, Windows Defender detects the file IN THE VOLUME SHADOW COPY and complains.
