    Is there a way to make Cortana completely silent?


    I don't wish to hear her annoying voice, I want to get answers ONLY in written form.

    I searched the whole Internet and found no answer. Please don't tell me I'm the only person on this planet who wants to have that option available. There must be a way, through registry perhaps?

    Text to Speech is completely silent

    My text-to-speech is completely silent. I have tried multiple troubleshooting suggestions found online and none have worked. All other sounds work fine, but no speech is audible.

    Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

    Any working way to remove Cortana?


    Is there a way to completely remove Cortana? I disabled it, but it keeps running in the background.
    I did find some suggestions to remove it, but it also removes the search and causes problems to other stuff.
    So is there a working way by now to do that?
