Windows 10: Is there a way to permanently ENABLE the touchpad on Win 10??

Some programs & games keep turning off my Lenovo y720's built-in touchpad. I hate having to manually re-enable it every time. Is there please some reg-edit or other trick to force the enabled status on the touchpad? I've read a million times the ways to disable the touchpad but nothing on keeping it on 24/7. In other words: is there a way in Win-10 to remove the ability for apps/programs to disable the touchpad?The pad is Elan Smart-Pad and no, it does not have any helpful "Options" in 'Mouse Properties'. Only a box to tick to disable the pad when mouse detected.

How to permanently disable the Win 10 touchpad

Microsoft should have this turn off ability in the handicapped section. The touchpad is a terrible problem for anybody with shaky hands. To permanently turn off the touchpad in Win 10:

1. Right click on the left lower corner.

2. Select device manager.

3. Expand mice and other pointing devices.

4. Click the right mouse button to "PS/2 Compatible Mouse"

5. Choose Update driver.

6. Choose Driver from your computer (not automatically).

7. Choose Driver from list.

8. Unclick "Show compatible hardware" and more drivers appear.

9. Choose another type (for example mouse from Acer - API USB).

(ignore any incompatible message.)

10. Your touchpad will be disabled after restart of your computer.

11. Go back to 1 - 4 to get to the driver section and the touchpad.

12. Select "Disable device" .

(You must keep some driver or Win 10 will reinsert the old touchpad driver.)

Enabling touchpad windows 10 Dell laptop

I realize that it must be difficult for you when things are not working as it should. Sorry to know that you are facing this issue.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

  Did you make any changes to the pc prior to this issue?
  
• 
  Have you installed all pending updates on the pc?
  

A lot of Dell touchpads have an area at the top left of the pad which when double-tapped will toggle the touchpad On/Off.

Further, follow these steps to check if that helps:

• 
  In the Search box, type touchpad.
  
• 
  Touch or click Mouse & touchpad settings (System settings).
  
• 
  Touch or click the Touchpad toggle to turn off or on the Touchpad.
  

Note: When there is no Touchpad toggle look for Additional mouse options at the bottom of the page.

• 
  Touch or click the Dell Touchpad or Click Pad tab.
  

Touch or click the link, Click to change Dell Touchpad settings, there may be an option to enable or disable the Touchpad.
