Is there a way to Reset windows paging file size which is managed by system?

So my pc have 16gb of ram installed and by default pagefile management set to "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives". So the default pagefile.sys size is 2432 mb. At some point my pagefile of 2432 mb increased in size to 5376 mb.

So can i force Windows 10 to reset pagefile size to it's original size which is 2432 mb in my case I've tried disabling it completely and then re-enabling auto manage size, setting custom size to 2 GB and then setting it back to auto - it's always changing back to 5376 mb when returning to auto manage paging file size.

    :)

    Page file size?

Deleting it is fine, but keep in mind if you delete your page file a memory dump has no where to go and will be deleted. Not a big deal but just FYI. Really there is nothing to gain by deleting a page file. Except for the physical space. Windows set your page file the same size as your ram for a reason. So suggesting you should delete it if you have 16+ Gb ram and wont need it is inaccurate. You can also recover Data on a BSOD if you have the dump file

"Microsoft says that, when the page file is set to a system-managed size and the computer is configured for automatic memory dumps, “Windows sets the size of the paging file large enough to ensure that a kernel memory dump can be captured most of the time.” As Microsoft points out, crash dumps are an important consideration when deciding what size the page file should be. The page file must be large enough to contain the memory data."

  3. System Paging File Help

the problem with letting the system manage the page file is you will end up with more defragmented files as the page file grows and shrinks,

you should set a min page file size of say the same size of your ram and then double it and add just a bit more for the maximum size so you wont run into problems running out of ram.

or the smart thing to do is to watch the amount of total ram your system use's and modify your page file to suite.

Paging file - what's the difference between "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" and "System managed size"?

    Ok, thanks.

I understand the fixed vs dynamic, I was just wondering if there is any specific difference between "Automatically manage" and "System managed size"

For example, why isn't it just:

    Custom size:

    System managed size

    No paging file
